SquarePact Word Add-In

Installation and Setup Guide

TL;DR

If you’re already familiar with how to install Word add-ins, then you can jump straight to the install page. Just install the add-in and get started!

~30 seconds

Install SquarePact from AppSource

SquarePact lives inside Microsoft Word as an add-in. Microsoft hosts the install through their AppSource marketplace — same place you'd get any other Office extension.

  1. Open the SquarePact page on Microsoft AppSource in a new tab.
  2. Click the blue Get it now button. You'll be asked to sign in with your Microsoft account if you aren't already.
  3. Confirm the install when prompted. SquarePact is added to your Microsoft 365 account — it'll be available in Word the next time you open it.
Tip
If your organization manages Microsoft 365 centrally, your IT admin may need to approve the add-in. We're happy to help — contact us if you want us to personally help.

~15 seconds

Open Word and find SquarePact

Open any Word document — a contract you're working on, a blank one, anything. SquarePact appears as a panel on the right side of the window.

If you don't see the panel right away, you can open it manually:

  1. Click the Home tab in Word's ribbon.
  2. Look for the SquarePact button on the far right side of the ribbon. Click it. If it's not there, then click on the "Add-ins" button (it looks like a four-panel window) and SquarePact should be under "My Add-Ins."
  3. The agent panel slides in from the right edge of the document. That's it — you're ready to go.
Note
On the first launch the panel may take a few seconds to load while Microsoft handshakes with the add-in. After that, it's instant every time.

Create your free SquarePact account

The first time you open the panel, it'll ask you to sign in. New users tap Sign Up and enter an email address. Optionally, you can use a Google account.

  1. In the SquarePact panel, click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your email address. We recommend using your work email.
  3. Check your inbox for a confirmation email.
  4. The free tier is active immediately!
Free tier
The free account gives you 50 free credits to try SquarePact. Just enough for you to get a flavor for what SquarePact can do.

Run your first review

This is the moment everything's been leading to. Open a real contract and ask SquarePact to review it. The agent shows its plan before it acts; you stay in control of every step.

  1. Open the contract in Word. (No upload, no copy-paste.)
  2. In the "Agent" tab, type something like Summarize this contract in the chat box.
  3. Watch the agent work in real time, stepping through each phase. Every finding is cited to its exact section.
  4. When it's done, review the proposed redlines (if any were made). Approve, edit, or reject each one. Track changes are preserved.

You did it. Here's what's true now.

If you've worked through the steps above, here's what your setup looks like:

  • SquarePact installed inside Microsoft Word, accessible from any document
  • Free account active — every navigation and consistency feature unlocked
  • You've run at least one agentic review and seen the workflow end-to-end

Troubleshooting

The most common snags, with the actual fix. If you're stuck and don't see your problem here, email us — a real person responds within a business day.

The SquarePact panel doesn't appear after I install it

Close Word entirely (not just the document) and reopen it. Microsoft sometimes needs a full app restart to register a new add-in.

If that doesn't work, go to Insert → My Add-ins and click SquarePact in the list to launch it manually.

My organization blocks AppSource — can I install another way?

Yes. Forward our IT brief to your administrator — they can sideload SquarePact from a manifest file we provide directly. No AppSource access required.

Email us at customer-service@actualization.ai and we'll send the manifest plus a one-page security overview.

Can I use SquarePact without sending data to OpenAI/Anthropic/etc?

Yes. SquarePact exclusively uses Zero Data Retention for its default models. However, if you want to fully use your own backend language models (such as local LLMs), you must have a custom installation on the Enterprise tier. Contact us at customer-service@actualization.ai to inquire.

The agent is making changes I don't want — how do I stop it?

Click the Stop button at any time. The agent will halt mid-step and ask what to do next.

Or, you can steer the agent by typing new instructions while it is reasoning.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Install from Microsoft AppSource, or from inside Word: go to Insert > Add-ins > Get Add-ins, search for SquarePact, and click Add. SquarePact will appear on your Word ribbon.

SquarePact runs in Word on Windows and Mac. You'll need a recent version of Word that supports Office Add-ins. After installing, you'll be prompted to create or sign in to a free SquarePact account.

  • In Word, go to Insert > Add-ins > My Add-ins, find SquarePact, click the three dots, and choose Remove. To delete your SquarePact account and associated data, email customer-support@actualization.ai.

  • SquarePact is free to install and try. Basic features don't consume credits and remain available without a subscription.

However, most AI-powered features run on a credit-based subscription. Credits are consumed by AI actions; cost per action varies with document size and task complexity. For more details, see our pricing page.

Enterprise and government pricing is custom — contact us for a quote.

To manage your subscription, sign in at squarepact.actualization.ai.

  • SquarePact typically edits Word documents at the XML level, which allows us able to better edit styles, numbering, fonts, spacing, and layout. We prioritize making edits that do not mess up existing formatting, but if our tool makes any mistakes then don’t hesitate to let us know!

  • Never. SquarePact operates under a zero-data-retention (ZDR) policy for document content. When you run an AI action, your document content is sent to the configured model provider only for the duration of that request, is not stored on SquarePact servers after the request completes, and is not used to train any AI model. We have ZDR agreements in place with the major providers we support, so the same applies on their side.

Enterprise and government deployments can be configured to use local or private models, in which case document content never leaves your infrastructure. Account information (email, billing) is retained for as long as your account is active and can be deleted on request by emailing customer-service@actualization.ai.

  • SquarePact requests standard Word add-in permissions to read and modify the active document. It only acts on the document you have open and only when you initiate an action — it does not access any of your other files.

When you run an AI action, the relevant document content is sent to the AI model provider you have configured (by default, this is one of the major cloud providers; enterprise customers can route to a private endpoint). Billing is processed by Stripe.
